SHEET TWF·T-08 REV 2026-08-20 METHOD M.2026-08-20.1

Plasma cut thickness checker

Compares a required cut thickness against the clean-cut and severance ratings you enter from the manufacturer’s data plate — it holds no amperage or thickness tables of its own.

Classification Entered-rating comparison

InputsT-08
F-01

Free-text label copied onto the record — it plays no part in the comparison.

F-02
mm

The thickness you need to cut, greater than 0.

F-03 Nameplate
mm

From the manufacturer’s data plate or manual, greater than 0.

F-04 Nameplate
mm

From the same data plate; at least the clean-cut rating.

F-05 Power / supply / air confirmations

Anything short of confirmed suppresses a positive comparison and stamps the record CHECK NAMEPLATE.

A required thickness of 10 mm against an entered 12 mm clean-cut rating and 16 mm severance rating, with power, supply and air confirmed against manufacturer data: within the clean-cut thickness rating you entered.

Method

M.2026-08-20.1

The checker compares the required thickness only against the two ratings you entered from the manufacturer’s data plate or manual:

  • Required at or below the clean-cut rating, with power, supply and air confirmed — “Within the clean-cut thickness rating you entered”.
  • Required above the clean-cut rating but at or below severance — “Above the clean-cut rating; within the severance rating you entered”.
  • Required above the severance rating — “Exceeds the thickness ratings you entered”.
  • Confirmations not complete — the positive comparison is suppressed, the record is stamped CHECK NAMEPLATE, and manufacturer and supply confirmation is requested instead.

Worked figures: 10 mm required against an entered 12 mm clean-cut rating and 16 mm severance rating, with confirmations complete, sits within the entered clean-cut rating.

Limits & stop conditions

T-08
  • The comparison uses only the ratings you entered — no universal claim linking amperage to thickness is made or implied.
  • Severance cuts are rough separation cuts, not production-quality edges; plan finishing work or a different process if edge quality matters.
  • Edge quality, consumable condition, material type and travel speed change real cutting capability — the manufacturer’s data plate and manual govern.
  • CHECK NAMEPLATE — while power, supply and air confirmations are anything short of confirmed, no positive comparison is issued.
